DIY Wed. Two former co-workers, who ditched their jobs in sales to use their design degrees, artisitcally collaborated for the first time. If you haven’t guessed one of the fore mentioned is me & the other is local artist Nicole Haney. As you can see the results were, well, fantastic! Her knowledge of printmaking & mine of graphic design joined forces to make the kind of wedding invitations people blow entire paychecks to purchase. Please take note of the shine paper & the neon ink.

Sometimes more is better, but often times, more is … well … more. This super simple wreath was up in 10 minutes flat! (It even left me with time to add some alliteration to this post.) My intension was to make the wreath on the cover of ReadyMade this month, but since the store was completely out of foam wreaths I brought home this little grapevine number instead. After further inspection, I decided that it was elegant all on its own. To satisfy my crafting urge I added one tiny brown bow made from vintage seam binding & called it day.

knife
Don’t let a dull knife get in the way of good cooking. Today Kevin Noon will be sharpening knives at the Tremont Farmers’ Market. Bring your knives, scissors, sheers, and even food processor blades. He will make them like new again using old world techniques. Don’t worry, if kevin is not there, he and Garth Proctor alternate weeks at the market. Also, each freshly sharpened knife comes with a complimentary BAND-AID.

center piece

Make a seasonal center piece with fruit, greenery and flowers from your yard. (or your neighbor’s.) Simply place your findings in a bowl of water and arrange the way you like. When styling the center piece remember to group things in threes or odd numbers. Symmetry is not always pleasing to eye! Floral foam & picks are ideal but not necessary, as the life expectancy of your clippings may be short.
